Hearing With The Commissioner For Maritime Affairs And Fisheries
The new European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Ms. Maria Damanaki, will hold a hearing on the 28th of April on the future directions of the Integrated Maritime Policy (IMP), organized by the Group of Ten, which represents the Steering Committee for the establishment of an all-embracing Marine and Maritime Stakeholder Platform.
At the end of 2007, the Commission has put forward the main elements of a new European Integrated Maritime Policy, including its founding principles and actions, adopting the Blue Book and the Action Plan. In October 2009, the Commission presented a report on progress made with regard to this action plan and indicated six strategic guidelines for the future.
As the upcoming Communication on the future of the Integrated Maritime Policy is scheduled for autumn 2010, the European Commission has planned a hearing with stakeholder organizations. Each "pillar" of the Stakeholder Platform (science, industry, environmental NGOs, regional public authorities and users of the sea) will be represented during the hearing.
The contributions here collected will be anticipated to the Commissioner and their contents presented during the hearing.
CONTRIBUTIONS:
